Senegal is a West African country with an area of 197,000 square kilometers and an estimated population of 13 million, of which just over 40 percent live in rural areas of the country.

The capital and largest city of Senegal is Dakar, which is located in the westernmost part of the country on the Cape Verde Peninsula.
Senegal is a very beautiful country, rich in vegetation, culture, fauna and many interesting places to visit.

With a hot tropical climate, Senegal has two main seasons: the rainy season and the dry season.

The predominant languages are French, Arabic and the dialects of each region.

Education in Senegal


The educational system used is French.

Senegal has some of the best universities in Africa. Their titles are highly valued in other countries for the quality of their education.

Students arriving from Equatorial Guinea must take a language course to acquire the level of French required by the universities.

The duration of this course can be 6 months, 8 months or a year. It varies depending on the date of arrival and the level that the student has previously.

There are two phases in language courses:

-In the first, only the French language is taught (oral and written expression, grammar, etc.).

-In the second phase, subjects such as accounting, mathematics, etc. are taught. This phase is for foreign students to get used to the French system, learn how to study at the Senegalese university and consolidate what they learned during high school.


Once the language course is finished, the student has the option of accessing the university or a professional training degree.

In order to access a university degree, it is required to have approved the Guinean selectivity.

On the other hand, to access the higher grade it is only necessary to have passed the baccalaureate.


Cost of living in Senegal


The standard of living of Equatorial Guinean students in Senegal is higher than that of the average Senegalese population. The currency used is the CFA Franc.

Food and public transport are quite cheap.
